Assert (B&H) was founded in 2002 and became a registered charity in 2003. Who is in Assert? Any adult interested in furthering the work of the Charity can become a member. Organisations can become members too. All people over 16 with Asperger syndrome (AS) or High Functioning Autism and their Carers resident in Brighton and Hove can call upon the help of Assert. People with Asperger syndrome take an active role in planning its activities. Assert currently employs one staff member.
ASSERT (B&H) is co-run by members. The ASSERT logo was designed by a member. The content of the website and the ideas came from members. ASSERT prides itself on involving its members who play a big part in the running of the organisation and the decision-making process.
What services does Assert provide?
Liaison with Statutory services/advocacy on behalf of individuals with AS Twice-monthly social learning group Monthly drop-in support group for adults with AS Monthly mutual support group for parents and carers of adults with AS Social events, outings and local awareness raising events
